What is Fire Insurance
Fire insurance covers your building, plant and machinery, stock and contents against fire and allied perils such as lightning, explosion, riots, storm, flood, earthquake (by product), impact damage and more. It applies to factories, warehouses, shops and offices across India.
Why Is This Policy Vital for Business Owners?
A single fire can stop operations for months
Fire insurance is the difference between "temporary closure for repairs" and "permanent shutdown notice." Fire cover lets you rebuild and restart without draining working capital.

Allied perils are risks other than fire that a fire policy can also cover, such as lightning, explosion, riots, storm, flood, earthquake (by product), impact damage and aircraft damage. The exact list depends on the product.
Only if the short circuit causes a fire. Electrical damage to a machine without a fire is not covered and needs a separate machinery breakdown policy.
Yes. Tenants can insure their contents, stock and fit-outs; the owner insures the building.
Only if specifically declared. Declare accurate stock values, because under-insurance can lead to a proportionate reduction of the claim.
No. Fire policies cover physical damage. Lost profits need a Business Interruption (Fire Loss of Profit) policy.
Every policy has an excess you bear. For example, Bharat Laghu Udyam Suraksha deducts 5% of each claim, minimum ₹10,000. Check your policy schedule for the exact amount.
